 Inspiring Radiologic Technology Faculty to Use Blended-Learning Techniques

BEFORE WE BEGIN

  • Welcome

  • Weekly Meeting Times/Blended (online and F2F)

  • Supplemental online resources will be provided

  • ​

WEEK 1-Course Goals

  • Introduction video on Blended Learning

  • Group discussion of best practices currently being utilized in the classroom

  • Lesson 1- Advantages of blended-learning in today’s student

    • Supplemental readings and videos

    • Demonstrate area where digital tool can enhance learning

  • Homework-Review Dallas College JRCERT accreditation assessment plan and identify your areas for assessment for potential addition of blended learning elements.

 

WEEK 2- Improving Our Digital Literacy

  • Week 1 Recap and pulse check (Questions, Concerns, & Comments)

  • Introduction video on LMS

  • Interactive Workshop on best practices for online tools as entire group

  • Lesson 2- Self-paced learning the LMS

    • Create a classroom

    • Create an assignment

    • Create a discussion board

  • Homework- Exploring your own digital literacy


 

WEEK 3-Collaboration is the Key

  • Week 2 Recap and pulse check (Questions, Concerns, & Comments)

  • Introduction video on effective collaboration techniques

  • Breakout session- Meet with fellow faculty that share program assessment areas for crossover, work w/your partner to align new digital goals with assessment area.

 

  • Lesson 3- Discussion on creating opportunities for collaboration for students 

  • Homework- Create an active learning activity that engage students actively in their learning process, such as hands-on activities, discussions, and problem-solving tasks.

 

WEEK 4- Implementing Your First Activity

  • Week 3 Recap and pulse check (Questions, Concerns, and Comments)

  • Introduction video on providing effective feedback in a virtual environment.

  • Discussion- How do you currently assess?

  • Lesson 4- Cohort work to update/create activity and to assess using digital tools.

    • Practicing feedback in an online environment

  • Homework- Develop student expectation list for collaboration parameters and a plan for giving timely feedback. 

 

WEEK 5- Reflection and Feedforward

  • Week 4 Recap and pulse check (Questions, Concerns, and Comments)

  • Introduction video-Assessment Of/For/As Learning

  • Discussion on student-centered learning and giving students choice

  • Lesson 5-  Ask educators to individually reflect on how they can implement student-centered learning in their own teaching practices. Have them create an action plan that outlines:

  • Specific student-centered strategies they plan to incorporate.

  • Steps they will take to implement these strategies.

  • Potential challenges and solutions.

  • Support or resources they might need.

    Wrap-up Discussion- Reflection and next steps
